The project ROHU456, managed by the Municipality of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County as the lead partner, will create a coherent cross-border tourism area based on the existing built cultural, historical and natural heritage values, in order to lay the foundations for sustainable development of the region and to increase its tourism and attractiveness.

Objectives of the project:

• to preserve, protect and promote natural heritage in an environmentally sustainable way;
• to make tourist destinations, historical and cultural heritage more attractive to the younger generation through advanced IT and interactive elements;
• sustainable and effective use of intangible and tangible heritage through comprehensive marketing and IT activities.

The aim of the project is to present the natural and cultural heritage of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Satu Mare County in an interactive and modern way, and to connect the existing tourist attractions and strengthen their synergies. The development sites are located close to existing attractions, thus providing visitors with additional activities beyond the immediate surroundings of the attraction, increasing the number of overnight stays in the whole region. The project's development initiatives will not focus exclusively on one specific age group, but rather on reaching out to all tourists and residents in the region through sophisticated tourism offerings, marketing and IT tools.

Project elements and activities of "Kölcsey" Nonprofit Ltd:

• Development of a natural heritage site (1): Nagykálló (Harangod), Eco Park and Visitor Centre Phase II
• Development of a rural tourism correspondent network with cross-border territorial relevance: Mátészalka (Bereg), Kisvárda (Szabolcs), Fehérgyarmat (Satu Mare, including Satu Mare County [RO]), implementation of small-scale marketing activities
• Development and implementation of online and offline marketing tools, preparation of a communication plan

The EASYDOOR project is implemented within the framework of the Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Programme, with the support of the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.

With the support of the European Union and the Hungarian government, another church has been renovated in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county.

Thanks to the Diocese of Nyíregyháza and numerous donors, the St. George Greek Catholic Church in Kisvárda has undergone a complete renovation.

Comprehensive tourism development has been carried out in the county.

A Romanian-Hungarian tender has seen the renovation of 14 churches and a parish of significant historical value, and the continuation of the historical city promenade in Nyírbátor.

The Reformed Church of Nyírbogát has been renewed inside and out. In addition to church funds and congregational donations, the building was modernised with the help of a Hungarian-Romanian EU grant. The windows were replaced, the façade was insulated and the interior was renovated.

On Sunday, the faithful celebrated the completion of the renovation of the Greek Catholic church in Kállósemjén with a Holy Mass. The building has been renewed inside and out and the community centre has been restored. Several funds were used to modernise the Greek Catholic church. The church in Kállósemjén is being renovated partly through a cross-border ROHU grant, TOP funding, the Hungarian Village Programme and donations from the faithful.

Churches and hiking trails are being renovated in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county thanks to a cross-border cooperation. The county government is working with the Romanian county of Satu Mare to develop cultural and built heritage sites on both sides of the border for more than €10 million. The programme will include the renovation of churches in 15 municipalities in the county and the historic promenade in Nyírbátor. EASYDOOR also affects our television. As part of the development, media centres will be set up in Mátészalka, Kisvárda and Fehérgyarmat to share more county news with our viewers. The full EASY DOOR programme is scheduled to be completed in two years' time, in 2023.
